The people of the past were suffering from a great want to trace the origin of the sunand the other planets around. aithough they hare been thying their level best ever since people have not been able to disclose theis mystery yet. the solar system is a family of planets inciuding our earth. it is head by the sun. it was copernicue who proved that the other plunts such as mercury, venus, earth, mars , jupiter, saturh, uranus, neptune and pluto rotate around the sun. they do so along an oval like track. the planel closest to the sun is mercury. it;s also the amallest member in the solar system. jupiter which is said to be the giant of all the planets is also the planet with the largest numoer of moons. we all know that our earth has only one  moon. 

The race was due to begin at 3.00 p.m. a large crowd gathered. all of them were wheeled out to take up their positions. suddenly a loud cheer could be heard. it was a splend id matter to see so many raing cars of a  variety of colpurs at one plece. people began to clap when the former champion entered the scene he was one perera. At 3.00 sharp, a pistol shot heard. It was follwed bya roar of  engines. the race had wingess aeropalnes were fighting with each other for the first plce a  few minutes passed. a small red car driven bya handsome young man could be seen in front of all others. another car with erd and blue stvipes was fo llowing close behind. but itdidn;t seem of much challenge to the man in fron. but all ofa sudden the second car took the lead. the driver of the red car seemed to have not lost faith either. all to her cars could be seen running far behind. the forerunner was moving at a tremendous speed. now there seemed a little chance for it;s follower to catch up. the race was nearing it;s end. the crowd was looking anxiously with gasps of surpise. and the man at the wheel of the strped car won the race.

Since very long ago people used to domesticate dogs. dogs are just kept for hunting and watching and as companlon of man.there are different breeds of dogs. alsa tins, foyterriers, pomenarians, bullterrie rs and grey hounds are some of them.dogs favourite food is bones. some times they bury one of the bines given to them. it may be for future use. Dogs are fond of running in packs. when it is a time for them to do so they bay. some times dogs become in fected with a teridle disease. this disease is called vadies. when a dog is in fected with the rabies visus they og mad.

THE wife of hewa itharanage don caroli,a wealthy businessman dellvered a son on sunday september 17 , 1864. thenew born child was named davld dharmapala. it was the vogue those days of thehigh class sinhalese familles to name their children by chyristian names instead of usindg pleasant local names.  this child who was drought up like any ther normal child. became anagarika at the age of  17, 1864. anagarika in sinhalese , means a person who has given up all desires of home life. thencef  forth he degan to work for the upliftment of the sinhalese and budddhissm.ven. hikkaduwe sri sumangala and ven. closest associates. in 1880,when he was only a youth of 16 yars, dharmapala recelved tho opportunity of melenablavatsky. they were the founders of the theosophical moryment in new yirk in the year 1875.  HE was a junior elerk in the educatrion department when in 1886 he fully resolved to dedicate his life for the benefit of buddnism and later he became the general secretury of the buddhist section of the buddhlst theosphical society in colomdo. he was the manager of the journal; sandaresa; too in 1891,when he visited india he happened to see the misevable condition of the ;Buddhagaya; the birth place of lord Buddna. this tempted him to found the mahadohi society save buddhagaya o sinhalese get up from your slumber was his slogan. Anagarika dhayrmapala was also the pioneer of sinhala bauddhaya; hewaspaper established in 1906.  in 1931, anagarika dharmapala became a samanera in the name of sri Devamitta dharmapala. he was then living in india,. he whop rece ived april 29, 1933 at 3.00 P.M at the mahadobhi vihara in benares, india.let me be reborn 25 times to spread dhamma was his last wish.

uma  bandara  is  the  name  fo  one of our national heroes. he is a child hero. he lived buring the reigh of sri wickrama rajainghe, the last king of ceylon. his father was on of the king;s ministers. his name was ehelepola. ehelepola didn t, obey the king;s orders. he fled away and hid in a remote place. the  king  was  very   angy.  he  ordered  that  ehelepola,s fambra  by  killed. they  wers  broaght  to  bogambara  by  the king, s men lt  was  madduma bandara,s  elder  brother who had to face death fiyst bat he bared not to come forward.

My   ambition isv to become a jounali st some day. lot of books. i read chilbren;s newspa pers sers sach sa ;minira; and ;tikiri; too. since those days i wanted to become a journalist. my mother has told me that in order to become a talen ted journalist i maust read a iot of newspaers. so; i startecd reading almost every newspaper. noqw i can read and understand many thing;s i am interested in reading the children;s pages in the adults; newspapers. recntly , istrted sending small arteicles to these childen ;s pages. almost every article i heve written to date has been published. this encourages me.my mother  has advised me toKEEP ON writing. this will help me to become one of the prominest journaqlists of my country in future.

Every man should have at least one hobby to keep himself happy. stampcollecting or philately has been a hobby of milions fo people all over the world. general post offices of some of reign countries have even establihed special  departments to help stamp collectors. people in our country collect stamps mostly for pleasure. but in other coun tries many people collect stamps are the most valuables stamp collecting helps us to know many things. we may learn about different places, people, animals, birds, festivals of different countries through stamps. for this, we have to study about the details printed on the stamps deeply.

there are many kinds of flowers. flowers are beautiul and fragrant. people a dmire them. flowers are grown around huts and  paleasanuse they also flowers to their religious leabers. people also use flowers to decorate their homes for festivals, they keep wreathe of flowers to respect the dead ones. brides and bridegrooms too adorn themselves with flowers sri lanka exports flowers like anthuriums and orchids. thus growing flowers is not only an interesting hobby, it is also a potofitable businss. In sri lanka ther are many botanical gardens whers flowers can be seen in plenty. haggala, perabeniya and gampaha are the well known of these gardens.
